About the big Love
Twinkle little star
Sonya just turned 5. It’s hard to believe! For two and a half years (that’s right, isn’t it, folks?), we’ve been capturing important moments for this wonderful family. During that time, a tiny rosy-cheeked gentleman in suspenders joined the crew, and Sonya blossomed into a true princess!
We don’t often take on children’s parties, but this one was special and everything just fell into place, like it was meant to be. So we really wanted to share this story with you: it’s lively, spontaneous, and genuine. Most of the shots are candid moments, because that’s the only way to capture the real essence when dealing with little ones. And let’s be honest, the same goes for adults too, who always carry a bit of that childlike spirit within them.
Baby
Our friends had a Baby! A tiny, funny, wrinkled, red, real Human! His first five-minute (but still very professional!) photo session happened when he was just 14 days old, when we rushed over, camera in hand, to see him and congratulate the happy parents. We absolutely love this shoot! Everything is so simple here – no setups, no embellishments, no fancy tricks. Just the apartment that became his first home, a warm kitty, a cozy cradle, a loving mom, and a strong dad. It’ll be great for this little guy to look back at these photos when he grows up. And smile.
My Little sister
Children’s photo shoots are the most challenging for us. When your “star” is between 2 and 6 years old, the session breaks down into two very uneven parts – 20 minutes of shyness, where the “little pea” clings to their mom’s leg and gives you a suspicious side-eye, and the remaining 3.5 hours of non-stop fun, once the model has warmed up, made friends with three others, and they’re all rolling on the floor, spinning in chairs, banging on the piano keys, and running circles around you at breakneck speed.
Children’s photo shoots are the most fun for us! Because for those 4 hours, as photographer-entertainers, we’re right there with them – rolling on the floor, holding onto someone’s leg, singing “The Mammoth Song,” dancing samba, spinning in chairs, banging on piano keys, and running circles around the studio with them.
Children’s photo shoots are our favorites. Because we really connect with them. We know how to immerse ourselves in that childhood – toothless, sensitive, curious, funny, daring, brave, kind, and genuine – and how to capture it. In our photos, kids are always kids, not polished dolls with retouched faces. Even in this divine fashion-mashing. Their eyes sparkle, they laugh, they have fun, they play “for real.” They’re alive. In every shot, which is life itself.
In our children’s shoots, anything goes. Standing on your head in the most beautiful dress in the world, doing cartwheels, yelling, breathing on mirrors and drawing cats and flowers on them. You can be sad if you’re sad, have fun if you’re happy, meet new friends, and make connections. That’s why, even though we’re not strictly children’s photographers, we’re so happy that we have this part of our work. It’s important. It’s awesome. It’s real.
Playing Indians
When adults are a bit like kids themselves – that’s the best! When playing, goofing around, twirling, running, laughing, and being silly together is just pure joy, for fun, for the mood, and not because “the lady with the camera asked for a photo” – that’s the best. When smiles come from love, when touches are from love, when hugs are from love – that’s the best!
When you’re photographing a family, you want to capture more than just a “portrait for a frame.” You want to convey all the magic between the people. The invisible threads that connect them. The layers of emotions, relationships, attraction. The sparks between those in love. The tenderness between parents and children. All those things that words can’t express, but pictures can. So hurry up and look at these pictures! They’re pure delight!
